Solectron manages growth with client/server system
Article Abstract:
Milpitas, CA-based Solectron Corp. has installed a client/server system using processor-based servers from Intel Corp. for its custom-developed Shop Floor Tracking and Reporting System. The system allows shop floor workers to electronically record the movement of circuit boards through the assembly process, a job which was previously performed manually or with the use of a stand-alone PC. Solectron, which manufactures computer circuit boards and other electronic computer subassembly products on a contract basis, has realized significant cost savings since the system's installation.
